Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

What kind of intersectional urban planning and policymaking would enable us to create thriving agoras at the heart of our cities and communities? Culturally-rich, nurturing places in which everyone feels safe, healthy, empowered, and heard? Join us as we delve into the transformative realm of feminist citymaking.

In this active dialogue, we’ll confront the inherent social inequities that are woven into the built environments that surround us and the shortcomings of the traditional urban planning practices that underpin them. Through the lens of leading initiatives from different parts of the globe, we’ll unveil what a feminist approach to citymaking rooted in principles of collaboration, generosity, non-hierarchization, adaptability, flexibility, and care looks like in practice. Central to this discussion is a recognition that feminist urban practice isn't just beneficial for women; it's essential for the health of democracies and the well-being of all citizens.

From addressing inadequate access to essential services to tackling urban pollution, this session will illuminate how cultural districts that embrace feminist citymaking can heal societal fractures and foster vibrant, equitable communities. Whether you're a cultural planner or policymaker, architect or arts leader, join us as we identify actionable strategies for collectively fixing our broken systems – one public space at a time
